    Fans, Songwriters, Supporters

The Whitefish Songwriters Festival is a special “coming together” time for songwriters and you, our fans, to gather and share this incredible musical experience in our intimate mountain community. We’re really excited to enjoy the friendship, talent and togetherness of our fans and songwriters.

Thanks to your ongoing support over the last five years, ticket sales and sponsor contributions to the Red Lodge Songwriter Festivals have allowed us to contribute more than $40,000 in mission-based grants.  These grants have helped to fund music education in our local schools, fund the healing of wounded veterans and created a music scholarship at MSU-Billings in the name of Dave Kirby.

The health and safety of our fans, songwriters, volunteers, and community are our top concern. If the threat of Cornavirus is still with us, we will have to reevaluate our plans. However we are confident the advances in vaccine development, masking and social distancing will have a dramatic impact on the spread of the virus and we can once again resume our normal activities.

    About Whitefish Songwriter Festival

Welcome to the Whitefish Songwriter Festival. For three days in September we will feature hit songwriters from Nashville and Rising Stars from across North America including Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Alberta, and Nashville that will share their songwriting, creativity, and stories with you.

The Whitefish Songwriter Festival is a production of the Rocky Mountain Songwriter Festivals, Inc. (RMSF). The RMSF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to promoting music education in local communities and universities. The RMSF’s original festival is the Red Lodge Songwriter Festival now in its fifth year. Since its inception the Red Lodge Songwriter Festival has gifted more than $40,000 to the Red Lodge Public Schools music department, Operation Second Chance, and Montana State University-Billings. As in Red Lodge, much of the proceeds from this festival will go to promote music education in Whitefish and Flathead Valley.

Join us for this inaugural festival September 16, 17, and 18, 2021.

More than twenty songwriters will perform in thirty plus shows filling the theaters, restaurants, coffee shops and bars of Whitefish with some of the best songwriters in the music industry. Each show will feature two or three songwriters telling stories, trading songs and showcasing their creativity.

All we’re missing is you. We would like to invite you to beautiful and vibrant downtown Whitefish and we look forward to sharing this incredible weekend of songwriting, creativity and music with you.

There’s something for everyone. See you in September!

    Schedule

We will host 30 shows over three days—Thursday, Friday, and Saturday—in eight venues in downtown Whitefish.

“I love playing and I love singing, and the writing. There’s kind of a symbiotic relationship between the writing and the playing.!”
    —Guy Clark

    Volunteer

It takes a community to host a songwriter festival. We will need ticket takers, merchandise sellers, labor, venue managers, sound production. and many other tasks to have a successful festival. Join us.

“If you’re in it because you love it and you have to do it, that’s the right reason. If you’re in it because you want to get rich or famous, don’t do it. People often say that my first years in Nashville, when I wasn’t getting anything cut, were tough. Hell, those were great years.”
    —Kris Kristoferson
