WhitefishSongwriter Festival
    Whitefish, Montana | September 16 – 18, 2021

    Fans, Songwriters, Supporters

Due to the uncontrollable circumstances of the coronavirus pandemic, we are terribly disappointed to announce the postponement of the Whitefish Songwriters Festival until September 16-18, 2021.

The health and safety of our fans, songwriters, volunteers, and community have always been our top concern. Even with all the safety procedures we have put in place, these plans fail if the Songwriter Festival contributes to any further spread of the COVID-19 virus through our community.

Within the next 20 days, ticket buyers and sponsors will have the option to donate their contribution to our organization, hold the money for the 2021 year festival, or request a refund.

The Whitefish Songwriters Festival will be a special “coming together” time for songwriters and you, our fans, to gather and share this incredible musical experience in our intimate mountain community.

The planning will begin shortly for 2021, in order to bring you the very best Whitefish Songwriter Festival yet. We will invite all the songwriters from this year’s festival back and maybe a few more.

The Red Lodge & Whitefish Songwriter Festivals are the primary annual fundraising events of the Rocky Mountain Songwriter Festival’s Inc. and our work to support music education in our Montana communities.  This year’s cancellation due to COVID-19 will have a significant impact on the organization. RMSWFs is gratefully welcoming donations to help continue to fund our organization.

Thanks to your ongoing support over the last five years, ticket sales and sponsor contributions  have allowed us to contribute more than $40,000 in mission-based grants.  These grants have helped to fund music education in our local schools, fund the healing of wounded veterans and created a music scholarship at MSU-Billings in the name of Dave Kirby.

As a contributor to our festival you will have one of three options:

    1. Donate your ticket purchase to the Rocky Mountain Songwriter Festival as a tax deductible donation.
    2. Hold on to your tickets and they will be honored at next year’s festival, September 16-18, 2021
    3. Or request a full refund (please submit your request by September 1, 2020)

To request a refund email Mike Booth at mike@beartoothbiz.com or call 406-690-5988

THANK YOU for being patient while we navigate this unfamiliar territory.

We look forward to making next year’s event our best ever! Stay well and stay in touch!

    About Whitefish Songwriter Festival

Welcome to the Whitefish Songwriter Festival. For three days in September we will feature hit songwriters from Nashville and Rising Stars from across North America including Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Alberta, and Nashville that will share their songwriting, creativity, and stories with you.

The Whitefish Songwriter Festival is a production of the Rocky Mountain Songwriter Festivals, Inc. (RMSF). The RMSF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation dedicated to promoting music education in local communities and universities. The RMSF’s original festival is the Red Lodge Songwriter Festival now in its fifth year. Since its inception the Red Lodge Songwriter Festival has gifted more than $40,000 to the Red Lodge Public Schools music department, Operation Second Chance, and Montana State University-Billings. As in Red Lodge, much of the proceeds from this festival will go to promote music education in Whitefish and Flathead Valley.

Join us for this inaugural festival September 16, 17, and 18, 2021.

More than twenty songwriters will perform in thirty plus shows filling the theaters, restaurants, coffee shops and bars of Whitefish with some of the best songwriters in the music industry. Each show will feature two or three songwriters telling stories, trading songs and showcasing their creativity.

All we’re missing is you. We would like to invite you to beautiful and vibrant downtown Whitefish and we look forward to sharing this incredible weekend of songwriting, creativity and music with you.

There’s something for everyone. See you in September!

“I love playing and I love singing, and the writing. There’s kind of a symbiotic relationship between the writing and the playing.!”
    —Guy Clark

It takes a community to host a songwriter festival. We will need ticket takers, merchandise sellers, labor, venue managers, sound production. and many other tasks to have a successful festival. Join us.

“If you’re in it because you love it and you have to do it, that’s the right reason. If you’re in it because you want to get rich or famous, don’t do it. People often say that my first years in Nashville, when I wasn’t getting anything cut, were tough. Hell, those were great years.”
