DSC05340 copy.jpgRumour Mill is an indie-folk duo headed by multi-instrumentalists, Anna Katarina and Aline Daigle, currently residing in beautiful Nelson, BC.

Imagine the sounds of Fleetwood Mac, Brandi Carlile and First Aid Kit melding with a lush topography of violin, harmonies, keys, guitar and mandolin.

Their debut EP, Daylight’s Free, released in April 2019, quickly earned respect and attention on the international stage – charting in the top 100 in US College Radio, leading to a nomination for Artist of the Year at the 2019 Kootenay Music Awards, Top 100 in CBC Searchlight, and a full scholarship to the 2020 International Folk Alliance Conference in New Orleans, LA.

In September 2020, they released Gone With The Wine. The self-produced EP sees the duo mature in their sound, ringing with a touch of a broken heartedness, and pivoting slightly from their more happy-go-lucky debut.

Rumour Mill’s entire catalogue has also recently been licensed by 13 television networks, including: Discovery, Oprah, TLC, MTV, A&E, and E!TV.

With melancholic melodies, soulful harmonies and lyrics that weave the listener through an exploration of timeless themes, these ladies will sweep you off your feet and leave you wanting more.

ANNA KATARINA is a Canadian & American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter and performer known for her passionate voice, intricate compositions and compelling stage-presence.

After developing a strong background in classical music, Anna continued her studies at Selkirk College and Berklee College of Music. She now works full-time in the industry as a solo artist and session musician, resulting in many musical features including records by: Vinay Lobo, JP Maurice, Tenise Marie & DG Adams. Realizing how male-dominated the music industry is, Anna prioritizes honing her instrumental skills and becoming a mentor for aspiring non-male musicians.

Anna is currently recording her debut album in Vancouver, BC. This record genre-bends pop, folk, indie rock and soul into an evocative new sound, all pillowed by a lush sonic landscape, reminiscent of Phoebe Bridgers, Stevie Nicks, Sheryl Crow and Lianne La Havas.

Anna is also one half of the Indie Folk band Rumour Mill, and works in music business, marketing and voice acting.

Prior to her LP release, look out for some singles dropping this year including “Let You Down” produced by the popular Shawn Hook (out Jan 2022).

ALINE DAIGLE  has always been a trailblazer. At 11 years old she was the youngest first chair violist to perform for the Edmonton Youth Orchestra and The Winspear. At 15 she taught viola at a small music school in Cuzco, Peru. At 20 Aline was the first violinist to complete the Contemporary Music and Technology program at Selkirk College. Here she expanded on her classical training and mastered many styles such as Jazz, Latin, Bluegrass and Blues. At Selkirk she completed a double Major of Music Composition and Music Production & Sound Engineering. She works as a multi-instrumentalist performer and session musician on violin, mandolin, octave mandolin, acoustic guitar and voice. She has appeared on recordings with musicians such as Cowboy Irie, Buckman Coe and DG Adams.

Aline is one of few women working full time as a professional live sound and studio engineer. She has worked as a house engineer at Blue Light Studio in Vancouver, a Lead Technician with Peak Technologies and as a freelance monitor and FOH engineer for live performances. She has engineered for artists such as the Boom Booms, Shawn Austin, Chris Ho and JP Maurice.

Mostly recently, Aline has started “Aline Diana Jones Music and Sound”. A self powered music production company that is facilitating musicians in the Kootenays, interior BC, in creating professional content. In 2021 she produced Tenise Marie’s album “Storm” as well as Rumour Mill’s “Acoustic Sessions” and is currently in pre-production of her first Solo Album.

A myriad of interests have culminated her well rounded career as a musician, producer, teacher and sound engineer. Growing up immersed in her French Canadian and Doukhobor heritage has given her a unique strive to be an individual and an appreciation for sharing and preserving culture. She nurtures these principles by teaching music and violin and volunteering her time whenever possible to contribute to a healthy arts and culture community.
