The producers of the Whitefish Songwriter Festival and the Board of Directors of our parent organization The Rocky Mountain Songwriter Festivals Inc., are aware of the recent rise in COVID-19 cases in the Bighorn Basin/Flathead Valley. After careful consideration we have made the decision to move ahead with the Yellowstone Songwriter Festival/Whitefish Songwriter Festival on the scheduled dates of September 9-11, 2021/September 16-18, 2021.
As a 501(c)3, non-profit, organization we are an apolitical. Our three goals are to celebrate the creativity of songwriters and their craft, encourage tourism in Cody/Whitefish and finally promote music education in our communities. We cannot accomplish any of these goals if we cancel or postpone this year’s festival. We feel strongly it is time to move ahead with live entertainment and fundraising events such as the Yellowstone Songwriter Festival/Whitefish Songwriter Festival.
Over the past eighteen months we have learned many lessons on preventing the spread of COVID. Vaccinations, wearing face masks and social distancing are all steps that can be taken to prevent the spread of the virus. Like many of your workplaces, shutting down our business is an option we don’t feel is necessary.
We will utilize eight different venues during the Songwriter Festival. We will respect and abide by the rules each of these respective venues may have adopted concerning masking. Being our first year we feel there will be plenty of capacity at our venues to practice social distancing if you wish.
We would ask everyone associated with our festival, volunteers, ticket buyers, sponsors, and songwriters to join us in the celebration of songwriting and music safely and respectfully.
